Why we're losing the war on drugs. Silkroad.com and Bitcoin, Drug dealing for nerds
The Truth
Ever sit in your house and think "hey I wonder if I can buy meth on ebay"........well some guy did, and although no actual name has actually been released, the scary thing is,you actually can. Sort of. A new up and coming website Silkroad.com, is basically Amazon.com for drugs, and is an underground drug website using the anonymous currency bitcoin (fluctuates like a stock's share prices do) to let you buy any drug imaginable.
What is Bitcoin, the craziness, conspiracy theorists, and how it works
Bitcoin, a completely anonymous currency, and one that only maintains its monetary value by being accepted by other users, is the currency used to buy products on silkroad. Because Bitcoin is not regulated by the federal government, and is nearly impossible to track because it is not a true currency, therefore no monetary transaction has been filled.
The crazy thing about bitcoin however, is that users can generate money from their computers at home. By what is called "mining" bitcoins, a user sets up a program on his/her computer, and generates new bitcoins to the bitcoin world, maxing out at a limit 21million bitcoins in existence. Even top inve
stment banks like JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs have shown interest in the highly fluctuating currency as a type of stock, buying it at lows and selling it at a higher rate. Different spinoffs of bitcoin have been and will be created, once it reaches its 21 million dollar limit. Litecoin is just one of these many.

In a sense, yes. Launched in February 2011, and with a founder that displays extreme Libertarian philosophies, Silkroad.com is the ideal underground, online, and totally anonymous drug website. The government has tried to shut it down numerous times, and succeeded for a b
rief period of time on May 1, 2013. Senator Chuck Schumer critisisised and attempted to shut down the site, but ultimately did not succeed.
