So you want to learn a new language
These days it seems like everybody has learning a second, or third, or even fourth language on their bucket list somewhere. Learning a new language is one of those things that will make you the envy of your friends, VASTLY improve overall cognition, and help you communicate with others on a much deeper level. However, with so many new language programs advertised, with very few out that actually work,
not only can timeliness get in the way of you learning a new language, but so can costliness. Some language systems (the more popular ones), such as rosetta stone, pimsleur approach, etc., are extremely costly, up to $500 for the entire language.
From a good friend of mine's recommendation however, I've found both a cheap alternative to the regular language programs, a faster alternative, a simpler one, and one that is even more effective! Ready...here it comes....it's called babbel.com. Go to google, and type in babbel languages, and it will come up.
How much Exactly?
For just $12.95 a month, babbel.com will have you learning languages in a way VERY similar to Rosetta stone, only with more review emphasis on each lesson, making it stick in your mind better. Vocabulary builds with each day, and with each lesson that is passed, the challenges, grammar, and vocabulary words get progressively harder. For both vocabulary and phrases, pictures are supplied for better retention and smoother learning, plus with ALL the vocabulary, popular phrases, and easy grammar/syntax you'll learn, you'll be "babbelling" (see what I did there:) Your way straight to language fluency!
In order to become conversation ready in a language, I'd say it takes about 2 hours a day for approx. 3 months (I learn quickly, but this should be a general consensus). This amount of time won't make you fluent, for that I'd give it 6 months + of sustained usage depending on learning speed, motivation, time per day etc., but it WILL make you conversation ready. You'll scare the hell out of yourself when you start dreaming in spanish (me;), or when you accidently order McDonald's in Spanish and have to continue speaking Spanish at the front window or you'll look like a real MC@$$HOLE.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Give Babbel languages a shot, in all seriousness, it works, and you'll be proficient in no time. Por supuesto, usted puede enviarme un correo electronico, con cualquier preguntas. Chao, chicos!
