How to safely use Adderall for your SAT's/AP/ grad school exams

The Dreaded SAT
As test season approaches, it's easy to reach for the pill bottle in an effort to achieve those high test scores every college and graduate schools are looking for. Adderall comes to mind as the popular drug on college campuses, and although I preach a stray away from the drug because of its dangerous side effects and possibility of addiction (see my new book "Confessions of an AP Student" post). If you're already an experienced user and/or are hell bent on using it, reading someone's blog won't be able to stop you.

So besides using alternatives (see nootropics category), here are some ways you can mitigate risk with your Adderall use, and be sure that you can take every safety precaution necessary before embarking on your
journey.

1. Drink plenty of water while on Adderall
Adderall dehydrates you to extreme extents, and if you don't drink water, it's side effects tend to get worse. Make sure to have a sports drink or a bottle of water nearby at all times.

2. Make sure to eat as much as possible while on Adderall
Eating may be the last thing you want to even think about while on Adderall (especially at higher doses), but I've found that eating can reduce many of the side effects, ward off weight loss, and even let the dose you're on last longer.

3. Take the lowest dose possible
Self exclamatory, but true nonetheless. The lower dose of Adderall you take, the less tolerance will develop, and the less of a crash you'll have in the end.

4. Be sure to supplement with L-Tyrosine after your tests are done
L-Tyrosine is the amino acid that dopamine is created by in the brain. After Adderall use, dopamine stores in the brain are drastically depleted, be sure to supplement with 1500mg of L-Tyrosine for the weekend after your tests are done, it will have you back to homeostasis in no time:)

Final Thoughts
If you're interested, check out my nootropic category for replacements to Adderall. I always recommend an alternative to Adderall as it is a dangerous and highly addictive prescription drug that is chemically identical to speed. However, if you follow these precautions and use Adderall in a low dose for your tests, you should come out just fine:)
