My favorite NLP tactics

Neuro Lingustic programming, is the science of  how the brain functions, and of how you can program (or reprogram) it to function better. Here is a list of my ten favorite, as well as the ten most provenly effective neuro linguistic programming tactics, and how you can use them to your advantage in everyday life.

10. Start before you Start and Finish Before you Finish
Ever notice that during a speech, sometimes people say "before I start" and "before I finish." Believe it or not this is actually a neurolinguistic programming tactic. People tend to have their guard down before a speech "formally starts" as well as before a speech "formally finishes" allowing them to have a more laid back attitude towards the quality of their grammar. This manifests itself as a type of hypnosis tactic, and is a key to many motivational speakers success/ self-improvement techniques.

9.  Taker People Literally
I'll begin this NLP tactic with an example for better clarity. If someone says "I just can't see myself being thin" take them literally. They cannon visualize themselves losing weight, their goal, and being thin. Ask them "what if you could see yourself being thin?" This will let them actually visualize their goal, and will allow them to achieve their dreams. Most will respond "that'd be great." When this occurs, subconsciously, you have already done your job.

8. Go there first
This refers to putting yourself in the state of mind you need to succeed, before you actually succeed. For instance, if you have a large project at hand, think of a time when you felt euphoric, lively, and full of energy. Say to yourself "when I snap my fingers, I will feel said way." By human thought as well as the NLP hypnosis, the state of mind needed for success will occur.

7. Just start talking
When you say to yourself, for example what happens when you_ to your__, you are forced to mentally, and unconsciouslly, fill in the blanks. As you continue to add positive words to the mantra, your motivation levels, as well as levels of belief in yourself, will change for the better.

6. Do it before you do it
A visualization tactic, in which you use the mood elevator from the #8 tactic, meditate, through visualization, on whatever tactic it is that you want to complete, and mentally go through the full extent of the event in your mind, giving the state of mental acuity necessary to actually complete the event. A major visualization tactic done by top athletes, and used to decrease anxiety before a big event.

5. Use your peripheral vision
Joe Grinder (the co-developer of NLP) found 3 main obstacles to mastery of any skill. 1. Over reliance on focal vision. 2. Internal Dialogue 3. A feeling of hesitation.
Using peripheral vision, you broaden your perspective of the globe around you, and have a greater

4. Borrow gestures
Ever notice that people use gestures when they talk? These are entirely unconscious, and are not usually made aware of by the person doing them. One way to strike someone off guard and/or earn their respect, is to noticeably begin to mimic their gestures. The person will not notice, but at once their unconscious will be made aware that you have caught on to their instinctive gestures, treating you with a great deal of respect and intimidation in each and every further interaction with the person.

3. Use the Meta-Model
The Meta-Model is the NLP concept that the world is simply a viewpoint by which your brain perceives your surroundings and nothing more. Using this you can increase your confidence and peripherals by making real the idea that the world is nothing more than ones viewpoint, and a mental perception of the world. This is the most powerful of all NLP tactics, and has the potential to eliminate fear almost completely..more details in the URL below.

2. Use the Milton Model
Also known (in a more layman's sense) as verbal hypnosis. Here's an example to give you the gist
"Because you have certain things that you want to learn
Which things? Certain things. Oh, those ones! Well, you didn’t tell me that, but I’m
guessing it. And the ‘because’ makes the previous statement even more plausible,
because people like there to be reasons for things. It makes the world seem,
somehow, more certain!
· so you may be interested in discovering how you can put these new learnings
into practice.
Well, this is just made up. I don’t know this at all, at all. But if I’ve managed to get
you to say ‘yes’ to the previous few statements, you probably said yes to this one
too. This sentence is super-vague, yet it’s the sort of thing that people will agree to,
because it sounds specific. In my experience, people will always try to make sense of
the things you say to them. This means that the more you are able to use language
in this ‘hypnotic’ way, the more influential you will be (whether you’re doing formal
hypnosis or not). This is one of the keys to effective influence in any field.
The Milton Model is one of the things that people who come on our NLP Practitioner"

1. ELIMINATE HESITATION!!!!!
Kind've self exclamatory if you think about it. This refers to the idea of believing in yourself, knowing when you have a solid idea, and acting on the opportunity both quickly and accordingly before the opportunity ceases to exist.
